Wow was I spoiled!!!! I never had to do anything in my house prior to May 1, 2008. B did everything and I mean everything. He did all the laundry, vacuuming, dusting, cleaning including the bathroom, fixing what needed to be fixed, and all the yard work. All I had to do was make sure he had a home cooked meal to bring to the prison and walk the puppies, not bad huh? Wow did I have it GOOD, no I had it AWESOME!
NOW, I get home from work at 6 am, walk the puppies, get his coffee and bagel ready, get him out of bed and situated in the chair in the living room, it is the only chair he can sit in because his hips have to be higher than his knees (this is a huge challenge) When he is finished breakfast, I get him back to bed for a couple of hours, so that I can get some sleep, remember I work overnights and I require at least 2 hours of sleep. I make sure he has gotten all his pain meds. and shots while I'm at it. Getting him back to bed entails getting his ice pack out of the freezer, getting him some cold water to keep by his side and anything he may require at the moment. Then it is off to do laundry, it is in the basement but it still sucks. By this time I have to re walk the puppies because they are now up and moving more and so are the bowels, really couldn't they do this all at once, ah... no, not my wonderful babies, They get a treat every time they come in so I think they play me for a sucker most of the time, but I love the time we share alone on the walks. Then it is off to bed, this usually lasts for about 2 hours, then I get B up and help him shower, He's 6'1" on the left and 5'11" on the right and can not bend his knees greater than 90 degrees, so he doesn't fit in our tiny tiny shower just yet, soon we hope when he gets more flexation. After his shower, it's my turn, yeah!!! Then it is off to the dryer and change the clothes over, we live in an odd house where the washer and dryer are in two separate rooms, pain in the pass, ha ha no pun intended.Once the clothes have dried we are off to the park, weather permitting for B's daily physical therapy, he is walking about 1.5/2 miles, he is doing great, his PT says he is right on track for his right hip replacement on May 22nd...wow less than 2 weeks away, yikes! After our walk he goes home and goes to bed to elevate his legs to help with the swelling, so far it's not so bad, at this time I get all the errands done that need to be done. I get him up again about 2 hours later for a late lunch and meds. Then we try and watch a movie together, for some family time, I usually have one or both puppies on my lap needing mommy time, I love this! We eat dinner between 6/7 pm, then we catch some of the Sox game, and the I get him ready for bed,. meds shot, puppies walked, I shower again for work and walk out the door at 9:30 pm, work till 6 am and start the day all over again. I love him and support him but he honestly owes me big for this, I'm kidding by the way, I actually love caring for him and knowing that he needs me, and knowing that he is going to be better off with his new hips.
His quality of life will be so much better and richer for having gone through all this at the ripe old age of 36. His pain gets better everday.
