Here we are happy before the run, we were even happier after, we both set PR"s. We love this race and will continue to run it every year. The course was flat, well maintained and organized. The t-shirts are awesome, long sleeve... women (pink print) and men's sizes available. We had some friends join us and cheer us on, that was great, we loved having them there. Brian got a post workout massage/stretch he loved it; says it really opened up his hip flexors. We got some really nice water bottles and other free stuff, some good loot, hee hee. Brian was on the running web site and found a couple more races for us to run this year and next...he added a half marathon in Feb. 2008, mind you this is in addition to the marathon we are running in late Feb. WOOHOO? It must be love cause I said let's go for it...yeah that's love. We really do enjoy the whole experience of the races...we have a race day breakfast, travel together and just talk about the race and our expectations, a friendly wager, hee hee...the checking in to see who has the better number (for some reason this is a HUGE deal to us) we check out and grab as much loot as possible, starting line ribbing, telling him he's going to fall flat on his butt, the race itself...I watch as he pulls away from me, his bragging about his great time and telling me he finished so far ahead of me (I maintain that he has longer legs, therefore he runs faster) grabbing the bagels after the race with juice and water...this is the only time we ever eat bagels!!! Finally the ride home where we talk about the good and bad of the race, hills, flat, water, people, loot, bagels..overall we just bond and have a great time being together. Thankfully we have a lot in common, not just running, but we both have high pressure stressful jobs and running is a great way to get away from it all; we get to leave prisoners and inmates behind for a few hours.
Today is my first ever Thanksgiving meal I will be preparing alone, HAH! Are you kidding I will be calling Daddy at noon and asking a zillion questions about the turkey... the temperature, the time, the EVERYTHING there is involved in cooking a Turkey!!! I am scared to death, every year dad cooks, this year they all decided to go out for Thanksgiving Dinner, I gracefully said I would not be going because frankly I feel it is disrespectful to Hubby for me to go out and enjoy a nice dinner while he is stuck at work; so I decided I would cook a turkey for the two of us, well wouldn't you know daddy found out and said he would be there at 6:30 for a home cooked meal (I am SO glad mom and dad are joining us for dinner) I am planning on making the whole meal on just a few hours sleep...turkey, mashed potatoes, candied yams, green bean casserole, acorn squash, carrots in garlic sauce, with fresh bake rolls and pies for dessert. Oh, did I mention that after dinner, all my brothers and their families would be arriving for dessert... Birthday cake for nephew who turned 13 this past week. ARRHH, well I have to be to work at 10 pm so hubby and mom get to clean everything up, NOT me!!! I'll let ya know how it goes, I've located all restaurants open tomorrow in case I burn, over cook, under cook the turkey, hee hee.
